Frequently asked questions

Agentic AI for biotech and biopharma, explained.

What is Noricum Biosoft?

Noricum Biosoft builds agentic AI systems for biotech and biopharma. Its flagship product, Helix.AI, is an autonomous bioinformatics agent that turns plain-language analysis requests into approved, reproducible pipelines.

What is agentic AI for bioinformatics?

Agentic AI for bioinformatics describes AI systems that do more than generate code — they plan an analysis, wait for human approval, then generate code, choose infrastructure, and execute it end to end while preserving provenance and reproducibility.

How is Helix.AI different from general AI coding assistants?

General assistants generate code that you run yourself. Helix.AI proposes a plan, runs the code in a sandbox after you approve it, chooses the right infrastructure per run, and produces reproducible artifacts — a standalone script plus a bundle with plots, tables, and full history.

Does anything run without my approval?

No. Helix.AI proposes a plan in plain language and nothing executes until you explicitly confirm it. The plan also persists across sessions.

What kinds of analysis can Helix.AI run?

Bulk RNA-seq, variant calling, single-cell RNA-seq, quality control, alignment, enrichment, and custom tabular or scientific analyses. If no built-in tool fits, it can generate a new one on demand.

What file formats does it support?

Common biological and tabular formats including CSV, Excel, FASTQ, FASTA, BAM/SAM, VCF, and H5AD — profiled at upload time.

How does Helix.AI ensure reproducibility?

Every run produces a standalone analysis script plus a bundle containing the script, plots, tables, and full history. Iterative changes patch the script and re-run, and each run links to its parent.

Where does the analysis run?

Helix.AI routes each run to the most appropriate environment — a local sandbox or scaled cloud infrastructure — based on data size and cost.

Is Helix.AI suitable for regulated environments?

It is designed with a human-approval gate, defensible provenance, and auditable, repeatable outputs — characteristics that matter in regulated, high-stakes science.

How can I get access?

Helix.AI is in private beta. Use any "Request beta access" button to open our contact form (pre-filled for a beta request), and the team — which is selectively onboarding biotech and biopharma teams — will be in touch.

Is Helix.AI open source?

Yes. Helix.AI is open source under the MIT license, and Noricum Biosoft's data-management co-pilot DataWeaver.AI is open source under AGPL-3.0. Both are available on GitHub at github.com/Noricum-BioSoft.

Who owns the software you build in a collaboration?

Our software products are open source at their core, so you're never locked into a black box. When we collaborate, the customized software solutions we design and build for a collaborator are the intellectual property of that collaborator — we bring the open-source foundation, and you own what we tailor to your science, workflows, and data.
